What is the name of your business, and your website URL?
I’ve worked for a variety of publications, from the BBC to Vice News, and currently freelance. Some samplings of my work can be viewed on: royklabin.com.
Please describe your business: What is your elevator pitch? Who is your ideal customer?
I mostly focus on documentary films, covering a variety of topics including crime and corruption, social justice and international politics. My customers are an audience, whether film viewers or article readers, who share my curiosity to discover something new about the world.
Please describe your role in your business: What does your day-to-day look like?
I produce the stories. In the preliminary phases this will entail researching topics and experts in various fields, discussing issues with them and building a relationship of confidence and trust so that they feel they can share their views with me and a broader audience, then interviewing and filming those sources, and finally editing the story together for an audience.
How has seeing an allergist (visiting Hudson Allergy) helped you be more productive in your profession?
I travel a lot for work, in different environments with various allergens. My work would be significantly harder without the ability to reign in my body’s reactions.
What advice do you want to give to anyone reading this?
The dream is the seed, the work is the water.
What is your favorite thing about NYC?
Constant novelty. There’s always new people, new scenes, new creations to explore and enjoy. It’s a unique hive of energy and exploration. Everyone came here dissatisfied with somewhere else, and eager to recreate themselves in a dreamer’s city. It makes for a nice ocean of ego and adventure.
